Last night we had our first gig of the year at The Vale bar in Glasgow. It was brilliant!! The bands playing were: (in order of appearance) Killjester, Easy Bake Oven, Aye Aye and of course us. Now the only way to describe Killjester is Red Hot Chilli Peppers meets Rage Against the Machine. Every song they played was very different with some quite punky and some very hard and bass heavy songs too. We all loved their set and for their second gig they were very tight. Next up was Easy Bake Oven. Now even the name suggests how heavy they are with me (Nurney) knowing the guitarist for a band called Party Canon who are a 'Slam Black Metal' band. They did not disappoint with putting on a show with their seriously heavy riffs, awesome and punchy drumming and a vocalist who never really spent any time standing up. I heard a fair bit of Gojira influence in their set which I loved we can't wait to gig with them again. Aye-Aye, no they are not pirate metal unfortunately, are a 3 piece hard rock/heavy metal band. With their heavy riffs and groove like feel they were an exciting act to watch. Then last up was us. We had a wee practice before the gig so we could have a wee warm up before we went on and it worked!! It was a brilliant set. One of the best we have ever played. The banter between us and the crowd was brilliant, we need more like that from Mik in the future. We didn't care that we fucked up a couple of the parts in the songs it was a great gig and the reactions from the crowd really just made it even better. It was an awesome gig so thank you to everybody that came and to the bands that played. Next weeks Fannys gig will now have to be even better!!!
